Update

Lately I have not been posting because I wanted to spend some time thinking about the direction of the BLOG and I was spending a great deal of time with the children and getting ready for Birthday parties. I have been spending some time educating myself with the direction this Country is taking with the current set of Legislators, our Current President and the unconstitutional CZARS he has appointed. Readership is also down during the summer because educrats have the summer off. But I have decided I am going to start posting about National policies and changes that are occurring to help spread information about what is happening within our government.

Intertown Record

On July 10th I reported that the Eagle Times would cease to be published on said date. On that same day I just happened to hear about the Intertown Record on Brian "Bulldog" Tilton's radio show. I had contacted Annette Vogel that night and asked her to cover Croydon, she said she could not. I had offered to write for free and I also encouraged Gayle Hedrington to do the same. I also suggested the paper should be sold at the Croydon store. By Monday she had a change of heart, Gayle offered to write for free and the Coniston Store will carry the paper. If you have news for Gayle she needs it by Sunday night so she can submit her column by Monday morning please send news to ghedrington@wildblue.net.

Please be sure to keep this paper running and pick up a copy at the Coniston Store. It is important that Croydon News gets out to the people of Croydon.

RIP Eagle Times

I was surprised to read last night that today would be the last day the Eagle Times would be published. With both the Argus Champion and the Eagle Times gone we will not have adequate coverage of meetings, school board meetings and events here in Croydon. This is a sad day indeed.

I Will Be Posting Less Frequently

This BLOG has less readers during the summer because many of them are school employees. I will be posting less frequently with my energies focused on fighting current legislation that will greatly increase our taxes like Cap and Trade, the card check bill and the health care bill. I will also be working to actively unseat Senator Bob O'dell because of his approval of the New Hampshire State Budget.

New Link and Great Site

I ran across an excellent BLOG titled Wealth is not the Problem, with a subheading of "Poverty is the problem. Wealth is the solution." The BLOG site is now on my must read list, the site has a plethora of great book recommendations in both economics and "climate change" that I will add to my reading list.

On the way to the store I saw the WMUR truck in Newport. I was hoping they were doing a story on Aaron they were. Aaron and his daughter are safe and on their way home. No further information was given but they are safe and that is all that really matters.

We said Goodbye to a Friend Yesterday

Who could have known on that day at the pound that I would come across a cute little dog who forever changed both of our lives? From the moment I took you home, you became my special little friend, filled with quirky habits both frustrating and endearing.



Through countless life changes, in good times and in bad, you were always there. You loved your special orange ball, until you lost it in a heating duct. Friends and relatives felt joy and anguish over the prospect of babysitting my little wiener dog.

Over the years, our family grew, but you were always my wiener buddy. Daddy wondered where my mint meltaways went, until you nudged a ball into his lap. Igloo turned you into a Frankenfurter, but learned to live with your bouncing demeanor.




Anastasia booted you out of my lap, but never out of my bed.


Alexander remains your main source of extra people food to this day. Our newest family member Fletcher took to you immediately.

George, you hold a special place in my heart that none can ever replace, none can ever forget. You've brought companionship, inspired songwriting, photography, and countless hours of storytelling.



You have fulfilled and exceeded our expectations of true friendship.

We've lived a long and happy life together. Our family will never be the same because of you, our family will never be the same without you.

New Addition to the Peschke Family

Fletcher has been keeping the family busy. More frequent posting will resume as time permits.

My husband Jim is now on the Croydon School Board that does not mean I will now remain quiet about the failures of our public education system and the spending problem within our public school systems including Croydon.
As Jim often states a great man once said, "Trust but verify."

Although married we each are responsible for our own words and statements, at times we may disagree with each other. Our actions are independent of each other and should not be used to assess the character of the other.

Update

I was sick for a few days and we have been dealing with other daily life issues. We have had some plumbing issues and other matters have come up as well. Sorry for the lack of posts.

Pipes Frozen

We live in a relatively new home and because it is a prefab home the water baseboard system runs through the outside of the house. Late last week two sections of our home froze so I have had to wake up and start fires right away. Because of this I have not posted as frequently as I would have liked. Alexander's sleep pattern has changed as well so it is hard to type when he is around.

Anastasia has been ill the past two days. I will BLOG again when I have the time.

I noticed every time I miss posting I lose readers. Both of our cars broke down at the same time, I have been oh so tired as of late and my Mother came for a visit. I had high hopes that my Mother would not want to get out and about so much and that she would entertain Anastasia and Alexander so I could get some long put off tasks completed.

I have been reading interesting articles that I have wanted to comment on but just have not had the time. When I get the time I just may back date some posts because I found the articles so worthy of comment.

A while back I kind of hijacked our Citizens for Reasonable And Fair Taxes as a soap box of my own. I have been wondering if I should relinquish the BLOG back to its original purpose and start a separate BLOG of my own.

Thought of the Day "PSNH to send adjusted bills."

Power back on after six days without electricity.

What a roller coaster, the power turned on after six days at about 9:00 last night. A broken breaker caused the power outage to our home a five-minute fix for the power company. Six days without power was not too bad, my major concern was that my Mom is coming for Christmas and I was concerned there would not be power for her. After a while you kind of get the hang of things. We were plenty warm we bought an 80,000 BTU wood burning stove this summer so it kept the first and second floor warm the basement was a balmy 50 degrees during the outage.

My regrets were not turning on the dishwasher the night before (didn’t want to waste energy thought I could put four more
dishes in the next day) and not doing the laundry. Early on we retrieved water from our waterfalls to flush the toilets later on we went to the town well for water. In the future I will fill the tubs with water before bad storms. Day three we took our laundry to the laundry mat and on Monday I boiled water to do the dishes I felt much better. Those of you who can empathize with my neat freakishness understand where I am coming from.

The weather reports about the storm were not as accurate as they were in the past, only Jim’s friend Comrade Dave the Socialist from Vermont was privy to what was headed our way. Actually my sister Julie sent me an email a couple of hours before the power went out she must have heard the weather was going to be bad too.

Alexander and Anastasia were troopers during this time, much of my time was spent hauling wood, water and doing things just to survive the outage. Jim charged the DVD players at work so we could watch some movies at nighttime. During the weekend we showered at Jim’s work. Jim showered at work every morning. Jim was dealing with an eye infection throughout this ordeal (still is) so he was not too happy. It was the kind of eye infection that turns his eye bright red and the white of his eye swells up around the pupil.

A special thanks to Ron (yes you), Mary and Dan for you all gave us light throughout the six-day power outage. Ron gave me some candles and flashlights as gifts a long time ago and Mary and Dan gave Anastasia a lantern that helped her find her way in the dark. Jim and I now have to decide if we should buy a generator or not, we have been told that we should expect a power outage about once a year.

Sorry there have not been regular posts lately. My daughter was sick and than my mother came for a visit and we have been traveling. I will update the site as time permits.

I must say I am in awe of those bloggers who have the ability to write regulary and with such eloquence.

A short break.

My son will be a year old soon so I thought it was time to take a few days off from blogging and get to the papers that have been piling up on my desk. I also had two boxes of papers that I have been meaning to file for some time as well. I was amazed at the decrease in blog hits because of the short break that I took. Actually I am not sure if it is that or just summer approaching. Our Blog like our old CRAFT website gets more hits during the school year and a good majority from "teachers." Speaking of the old website I really need to update it but my children have been keeping me busy. We still get a number of hits to that site so I should keep it up to date when possible.

Yesterday Alexander took his first unsupported steps he was able to walk about six steps before falling down. Anastasia was 8 1/2 months when she started to walk so I was surprised that it took Alexander so long since he has been cruising around furniture since February. Anastasia's reading is coming along and she enjoys just sitting and reading a book on her own.
