Good Luck on May 7th - Enjoy the nice weather at home
Good luck to all sides on the 7th.
The total number of BALLOTS must reach 283 for the vote to be legal.
Those in favor of the 1.7 million budget need your ‘no’ vote to make their ‘yes’ votes count.
So the ONLY way to vote against the $900,000 increase is to NOT cast a vote on May 7th.
Please don't let intimidation be a factor in voting on Saturday, it will only encourage more of it in the future. It is your money, it is not greedy to want to keep your own money and expect the school district to be more fiscally responsible with taxpayer dollars.

Much Needed Budget Adjustment
This letter (italicized for clarity) from Delia Leslie appeared in the Concord Monitor on 5/3. My comments in red.

As a Croydon student, I think this new school budget is insane. It isn’t enough to provide a beneficial learning environment,
Newport Montessori and Mount Royal Academy might disagree.

That is a reflection of public school inefficiency, not need.
or pay for other schools’ tuition. The school board has suggested “micro schools,” small groups of students monitored by a guide while taking courses online. The COVID-19 lockdowns and closings of schools in 2020 proved that this wouldn’t work well.
Invalid comparison. Microschools are on-site, in-person learning aided by the Internet. COVID lockdowns were remote learning. Big difference.
Most students just can’t learn like that,
Why not? If true, this should be addressed, as it is a failing of education.
and others who can, don’t enjoy it at all.
Going to school isn’t a particularly enjoyable experience for many students.
Part of being on the school board is making decisions in students’ best interests.
A bigger part is making decisions in the townspeople’s best interests.
Responsibility for the welfare of minors rests with their parents. Lower taxes empower parents to serve their children better.
This obviously doesn’t benefit students. The budget-cut and school closing would only benefit the Free State project’s goal of minimizing government.
The board had nothing to do with the decision to amend the budget. This is classic “shooting the messenger”. The board made many attempts to obtain public input on how to address the amended budget, but the angry mob would have none of it.
The board’s role is to make the best of the available budget. They did the best they could, with no help from people upset with the situation.
Decreasing education is a step in that direction.
This change does not “decrease” education. It only decreases the cost.
Students today will be running the country in a few decades; how can we be expected to do that if we’re uneducated and inexperienced?
The real leaders of tomorrow aren’t making excuses. They are busily building themselves up to become great people. They aren’t waiting for someone else to do it for them.
This issue affects everyone, so everyone should know about it. Education is one of the most valuable resources and should be provided for everyone in a way that helps students learn and understand. The school board needs to do what is best for students instead of focusing on personal gains.
In what way did the school board “focus on personal gains”? The board implored the public for input as to how to best operate, and was met with jeers, rude interruptions, and demands for targeted members to step down. What more could they have done?
Since they failed to do that, there is another town meeting.
No. There is another town meeting because some residents are unwilling to accept the legal and binding vote that occurred on March 12th. The board’s actions had nothing to do with the citizen petition for the do-over meeting.
Saturday, May 7th a meeting will be held at Camp Coniston at 9 a.m. If 283 Croydon citizens (50%t of registered voters) come and re-vote, this unrealistic budget could be changed.
Which is why people should skip the May 7th meeting and leave the amended budget intact.

Why do Some in Croydon Hate Freedom?
April 14th will be the 250th Anniversary of the Pine Tree Riot, wherein earlier settlers protested the fines and licenses from King George III.
The Motto of New Hampshire is Live Free or Die.
Yet some how in the small town of Croydon, we have have a small fraction of the town who have no qualms about squeezing as much money as possible out of their neighbors.
Many of these same people have a hatred towards Free Staters much like the south had to a certain community of people in the 50s and 60s. What is it about freedom and Free Staters they don't like?
I know many Free Staters, I would gladly break bread with them. Many in Croydon like Free Staters as they have the same conservative values that many who have lived in Croydon for decades also have.
Again why do some people in Croydon have so much hatred to towards people who believe in Freedom and Liberty?

What is Wrong with the Truth?
After reading a local newspaper I felt the need to write a letter to the editor. If you know Jim and I, it is something we have done for 8 years now. It never surprises us to see our Letters edited by the editors. But this last time when I wrote a letter to the editor they asked me to change it. I declined to change the letter but Granite Grok agreed to post the letter in full on their website.
The editor did not like the second to last paragraph. When reading the letter to the editor do your own research on this "person," you will indeed understand why I refused to take out the second to last paragraph in my Letter to the Editor.

New Hampshire: Classified as Highly Regulated Due to Hostile Legislative Climate
Big thank you to Chris Hamilton, Mary Faiella and others who worked so hard to stop HB 1580 and worked so diligently to ensure they remain in their little power positions. Some of you pretended to be on the side of homeschoolers and worked with Legislators to kill HB 1580 shame on you. Chris great job I see what 18 years of being a homeschooling advocate has done for homeschooling freedom. The DOE and NEA would be so proud of you. I do hope one day you all will put your own egos aside and actually fight for the rights of the parents and families instead of your own interests and interests of the State.
I must say thank you to HSDLA for changing its tune and becoming a better supporting of homeschooling freedom in New Hampshire. This has changed in the past year and I seriously appreciate their change of tone.

New Hampshire homeschoolers have fought intense legislative battles to defend their freedom from excessive government regulation over the past several years. In general, New Hampshire's homeschool law is not overly burdensome and is administered equitably. However, in the past four years there have been significant and numerous attempts by a
determined group of pro-regulation legislators in New Hampshire to impose significant new regulations on homeschoolers. The Department of Education in New Hampshire has also demonstrated its antipathy to the current status of homeschooling regulation in the state by its actions. Recently the Department attempted to circumvent the Home Education Advisory Council and impose new and burdensome restrictions, some contrary to the law. To the great credit of New Hampshire State
Board of Education, however, the rulemaking process was conducted so as to make only minimal changes to the rules.
HSLDA is pleased to serve the freedom-loving homeschoolers in New Hampshire and is grateful for the support of our over 500 member families in the Granite State. Because of your vigilance and support, together we have stood against changes that had the potential to make New Hampshire's homeschool law among the most burdensome in the nation. We encourage you to take the opportunity to get involved in this year's political process in order to insure that homeschool-friendly candidates are sent to the legislature.

Disappointed in Homeschoolers and the Live, Free or Die State
I have been so disappointed in homeschoolers across New Hampshire. We moved to New Hampshire because we thought it was a State that lived by it's motto Live, Free or Die. The tax burden is the second lowest in the nation. But in November 2006 the Progressives and Democrats took control of the House, Senate and Governorship for the first time in almost 100 years.
With the change of power, already restrictive homeschooing laws were guaranteed to become worse. The assault began with SB 337, so called advocates made backdoor deals to a bill that surely would have been killed if left unchanged. They thought they were doing homeschoolers a favor. "Advocates" bargained with the enemies of homeschoolers, and some homeschoolers blindly followed these so called advocates. Then came HB 367 and 368, in 2009 over 1000 homeschoolers showed up in Concord to fight these restrictive Bills. There are over 5000 homeschoolers more of us should have showed up to fight HB 367 and 368. This year when Comrade Rous continued to try to ram this same legislation down homeschoolers throats even fewer of you showed up.
In 2010 finally after almost 20 years of repressive homeschooling laws which have been kept in place in part by so called homeschooling advocates such as Mary Faiella and Chris Hamilton, along comes HB 1580 with the help of a true homeschooling advocate Doris Hohensee.
The homeschooling crowd for HB 1580 was almost non-existent this Spring. I just don't know if it is that homeschoolers have given up the fight or if the so blindly follow so called homeschooling advocates such as Chris Hamiliton and Mary Faiella they believe these people know what is best for them.
Protecting homeschooling freedom is not a spectator sport. Even if you do not want freedom you should not be blocking freedom against those who want freedom, unless your end game is power over homeschoolers. You will always have the option of having the State or local School District help you if need be.
One last gripe before I get off my soapbox. The New Hampshire Liberty Alliance and the people of the Free State Project need to help in the fight for education reform and homeschooling freedom. This is not to say that the NHLA does not do great things because they have kept very restrictive laws from coming into place. Public Schools aka Taxpayer Funded Socialist Indoctrination Centers work against the Freedoms for which these groups fight. We will never get the liberties we desire until we deal with the indoctrination in Government Schools.

New Hampshire Families for Education
New Hampshire Families for Education will be at the CheNH Convention this weekend.
If you are looking for a good cause to donate to consider New Hampshire Families for Education. Homeschoolers don't have a PAC and teachers unions, administrators and school employees do have PAC's and Lobbyists. Unless homeschoolers wake up and become more active at restoring their right to homeschool without government intervention we may not be able to homeschool anymore.
We would appreciate non homeschoolers supporting this cause as well. Homeschoolers save taxpayers billions of dollars each year by assuming the responsibility of educating their own children.
We have all seen personal liberty dissipate this past year. People like Comrades Rous and Casey would love to put an end to homeschooling don't let them win. Protecting homeschooling freedom is not a spectator sport.

Senator Hassan introduces amendment forcing non-profits and other corporations to disclose donors for any kind of political/issue advocacy, requires certification from secretary of state’s office for such activity, and requires determination of max. expenditures…
More… amendment language drafted by former head of NH Democratic Party and current legal counsel, Kathy Sullivan…
In what can only be described as one of the most outrageous attacks on political free speech, Senator Maggie Hassan has introduced an amendment to HB1459 which is designed specifically to target groups such as Cornerstone and its national partners, by not only making them disclose their donors, but further, making them take a vote of their Board or trustees to do such advocacy, getting the vote certified by the Secretary of State’s Office, disclosing to the Secretary of State that they plan to such advocacy, and makes the organization disclose a maximum amount they plan to spend!!
Again, this not only includes political activity, but ALSO includes issue advocacy such as the recent ads done on Governor Lynch’s record. The fact of the matter is that mandating the disclosure of donors by non-profit organizations which do issue advocacy is blatantly UNCONSTITUTIONAL!
It appears that Governor Lynch did not like the fact that the tables were being turned on him when he was criticized his record — and now he and the legislative leadership are attempting to change the rules because it no longer works for them!
ALL NON-PROFITS, CORPORATIONS, LLC’S AND PARTNERSHIPS WILL BE BOUND BY THESE NEW RULES UNDER THIS AMENDMENT… (see the amendment HERE – pertinent language starts at section 49, a little more than half way down)
An email yesterday sent from the NH Democratic Party’s legal counsel, Kathy Sullivan, to about 25 various organizations, outlining her revisions to the amendment to address some of the concerns raised by those receiving the email. Among one of her suggestions is raising the disclosure amount to an aggregate contribution of $10,000 — still unconstitutional. Remember: Kathy Sullivan also just recently filed a complaint with the Attorney General’s Office in an effort to get TV ads against Lynch pulled.
YOU NEED TO ACT IMMEDIATELY!!
This amendment has already passed the Senate (14-10) and is currently in a conference committee of House and Senate members. The committee will meet TODAY at 9am (LOB Room 302).
Call the Governor’s Office, the Speaker’s Office and the Senate President’s Office, calling on them to put an end to this unconstitutional power grab at once! Please be respectful, but let them know in no uncertain terms should free political speech be stifled in New Hampshire!!

A Time For Sacrifice
Faith, Hope, Charity and Duty, our Founding Fathers felt they had a duty to our Nation and to fight for true liberty and equality for all. Our Founders made great sacrifices, it is time for us to make great sacrifices as well.
It is time for Libertarians and Conservatives across the Nation to show they truly believe in less government. We are in the predicament we are in today, in part because for generations Taxpayer Funded Socialist Indoctrination Centers aka public schools aka government schools have not been teaching American History to it's students. They have also done a stellar job indoctrinating generations of students into the socialist mindset, so much so that many see it as a badge of honor to live off of the rest of society.
I strongly believe as a parent that it is my duty to educate my children. It is not my neighbors duty to pay to educate my children. With summer break coming every conservative and libertarian who sends their children to public schools must find a way to either homeschool or send their children to a private school by Fall 2010 or Fall 2011 at the latest.

It is time for Libertarians and Conservatives across the Nation to show they truly believe in less government. We are in the predicament we are in today, in part because for generations Taxpayer Funded Socialist Indoctrination Centers aka public schools aka government schools have not been teaching American History to it's students. They have also done a stellar job indoctrinating generations of students into the socialist mindset, so much so that many see it as a badge of honor to live off of the rest of society.
I strongly believe as a parent that it is my duty to educate my children. It is not my neighbors duty to pay to educate my children. With summer break coming every conservative and libertarian who sends their children to public schools must find a way to either homeschool or send their children to a private school by Fall 2010 or Fall 2011 at the latest.

The Slow Awakening
When Jim and I started fighting for education reform and education spending reform in Harvard many people did not like us or trust us but people eventually came around. We know the tax eaters, those living off the taxpayer teat and socialist will never like us and that is okay. In Illinois eventually more people came around to our side, hopefully someday more people will come around to our side in Croydon as well.

To the Editor:
I can’t even begin to tell you how much it warmed my heart to read the comments to Tony Casalino’s letter to the editor entitled “Supports tax increase” (May 1).
My husband, Jim, and I fought for education reform and education spending reform for four years before we decided not enough people were on board and Illinois was on a nonstop train to bankruptcy due to its spending problems and pension problems.
Good luck to you all, but you must do more than just respond to letters to the editors in newspapers. You must educate your friends and family, start tax-fighting groups, run for public office and, most importantly, support and vote for people who will be fiscally responsible and fight for true education reform.
Do not vote for any candidate who is funded with teachers union dollars. These are just your own education dollars working against you and your children’s futures.

Tea Party Express III
I was thrilled to bring along a fellow Croydon Resident to the Tea Party Express III in Concord. Par for the course the entertainment arrived late but a good time appeared to be had by all in attendance. We usually have signs prepared but it has been a busy week, I broke a crown and I am now homeschooling Anastasia more even though she is registered in a private school. So instead of signs I bought a Gadsden Flag. Probably should have waited to see what other goods were available but you got to love Capitalism.
I noticed a liberal complaining that there were not many black people in attendance, the complainer needs to realize that the population of New Hampshire is 97% caucasian.
Token liberals were present, I even saw someone with a CCCP shirt. He was taking pictures of all the white racists.
Here is a picture of the Entertainment. Clearly a bunch of racists (sarcasm totally intended). I was really looking forward to hearing Marcus Lloyd sing. He is the tall man in the black suit and black leather cap. He had laryngitis and could not sing but his videos are available on You Tube.
The picture below is taken of the PJTV reporter, obviously just an old white man and another racist tea party member, you just can not trust 30 something pretty girls.
